Design a Treatment Plan and Discuss How Each Intervention is Applicable to Lorene’s Case. Consider the Following Interventions

Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Therefore, primary care providers should diagnose and manage the symptoms as early as possible to prevent adverse stages of the condition. The illness is encompassed in two clinical presentations, including non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) and ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEM). While the American Academy of Cardiology recommends prevention and mitigation of the risk factors for this illness, patients diagnosed withACS should be treated with quick management in primary care, especially pharmacologic therapy (Braiteh et al., 2020). During this visit, the patient’s ACS symptoms would require a prescription of chewable nonenteric coated aspirin 225 mg and not exceeding 325 mg. additionally, she will need sublingual nitroglycerin 0.3 – 0.6 mg every five minutes for 15 minutes divided into 3 doses to help with the chest pain. Since her oxygen saturation is 97%, oxygen therapy would be unnecessary for the patient. However, attaching her to the pulse oximetry machine awaiting ambulation to the emergency room would be necessary. A cardiologist would be needed to help with the patient’s treatment plan based on the collected troponins. After receiving outpatient treatment, the patient would be allowed to go home. However, the cardiologist will have to follow up with the patient at home to ensure she is at a reduced risk of further complications. Thefollow-up would include a cardiac rehabilitation program and pharmacological management of her symptoms. Moreover, the cardiologist and the PCP can work together in patient education to control other comorbidities, including smoking, hypertension, and cholesterol levels. She will have to return to the hospital after four weeks of medication for review and reassessment. The symptoms and differentials would require initiation of antiplatelet medications such as clopidogrel and aspirin.
