 Healthcare providers should educate the patient and families about the need and
what should be consented in a manner that they understand. While seeking patient
education, healthcare providers must ensure that all the treatment's risk and the procedure
has been explained. Encouraging questions or asking the patient some questions acts as a
good assessment method to ensure that patients understand the process before they sign
the consent form (Falvo, 2011). The language used should always be understandable,
simple, and clear communication. This will help the nurse to understand the content of
the informed consent before signing it. Patient families offer support to the patient
(Falvo, 2011).
