1. The author of the first study plans to use case study as a preferred research method for his/her study. Case study is a detailed account of an event, company, activity or a problem that has real or hypothetical solutions. Case studies are used to investigate relationships between decision-making processes and real life complexities that influence those decisions (Hancock & Algozzine, 2016). The author of this study plans to use in-depth interviews as a method for collecting qualitative data about young people’s smartphone use habits. Interviews allow participants to reflect on their thoughts, hopes, and goals about various topics or people in general. Interviews give researchers flexibility to change and adjust questions to different participants. Interviewers can also collect interesting comments which may be relevant for enhancing study design. Interviews allow participants to have a certain degree of freedom of expression. Interviews can be very time consuming and this is their big disadvantage (Brace & Byford, 2012, p. 34). In general, in-depth interviews allow researchers to achieve very high response rates. In-depth interview also have their disadvantages. Due to discomfort, participants may not always be willing to disclose accurate personal information during live interaction with researchers (Schultz & Schultz, 2015, p. 33). The author of the second study plans to use grounded theory as a preferred research method for his/her study. According to Cresswell, grounded theory approach is used for collecting and analyzing qualitative data in order to develop of verify certain theories (Creswell, 2014). Grounded theory is set of procedures which help researchers to identify research concepts and develop theory from qualitative data. This approach seeks to identify and explain reasons why people behave in certain ways in different or in similar contexts or settings. Grounded theory is inductive which means that it encourages researcher to move beyond the specific to a more general approach in order to explain phenomena
