There are various methods used to educate patients about the use of CAM. The
first approach is to provide the patient with detailed and unbiased information about
CAM to seek guidance when making decisions about the use of CAM (Falvo, 2011). The
health practitioner should always direct patients to relevant resources for gathering
adequate information about CAM medication. Providing information and creating a good
relationship helps patients to share more about CAM. Openness helps the doctor to
understand how the patient is using CAM and provide more detailed information on how
best can CAM be used to maximize the output of the treatment process (Falvo, 2011)
