Nursing education has undergone a wide range of changes in the past decade. The foundation for these changes are some of the major events such as; radical transformation – a report released by Carnegie Foundation, the Affordable Care Act, a report released by the Institute of Medicine regarding the innovation in nurse education, and an initiative called as the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation [RWJF], 2012). Some of the major changes in nursing education are; technological expansion, the integration of evidence-based practice in the health care delivery system, emphasis on life-long learning, and focus towards student-centered learning (Billings & Halstead, 2012). Technological Expansion The fast advancement in the technological fields has forced the nursing faculty to adapt those changes and integrate technology-based teaching strategies in nursing education. Though the integration of newer teaching strategies by using technology can be stressful for nursing faculties with little computer knowledge, it is a need for the students of the computer age. One way to assist faculty overcome this challenge is by offering programs that assist the faculty to gain competency to use technology in their teaching ventures such as; Teaching & Learning in Web-Based Courses Certificate Program, The Education Scholar Program, Technology Fellowship Program etc. (Axley, 2008)
