Positive Feedback for the Therapist NRNP 6645: Psychotherapy with Multiple Modalities

 Positive Feedback for the Therapist
The therapist used a structured style of therapy wherein they have stated rules in the beginning of the session. Having rules and regulations would help the patients know the expectations of the group therapy and give them a sense of responsibility and discipline. Explaining guidelines and privacy is also helpful and giving patients more confidence in opening up about their situation and to be more interactive in the therapy. Agenda of the session was also discussed in an objective manner. Assessing patient’s feelings through using a rating scale, gives the therapist a way to measure their feelings better. Recapping on previous therapy session is alsohelpful in building accountability into therapy sessions and evaluate the knowledge and progress of the patients.
Insights from the Group TherapyI have gained an outlook on how to structure a group therapy. I have realized though each patient is different, they can still share a thing or two in giving support to each other and by sharing their coping skills on what helped or have not been successful in dealing with difficult situation in their lives through the guidance of the therapists. Documentation and remembering patient’s statements that needed to be addressed for individual therapy is also vital. One of the patients mentioned something about substance use as his coping skills, which is a negative way of coping. Those are needed to be addressed privately first to explore more on the patient’s substance use.
