Protected Health Information (PHI)According   to   HIPAA,   PHI   is   all   information   on   one’s   medical   record   which   wasgenerated, used, or given during diagnosis or treatment  process (Liu et al., 2015). Collectingsuch information is crucial in healthcare as it ensures effective nursing care and attention. Privacy, Security, and ConfidentialityConfidentiality   is   the   obligation   that   the  professionals   given   access   to   patientcommunication and records have towards holding the information in confidence (Enaizan et al.,2020). An example is keeping such information patient’s diagnosis and disease type away fromunauthorized personnel. Privacy is the right that the patient has to be allowed to make personaldecisions on how their personal information should be used and shared. An example is letting thepatient decide to whom and how to share information on their treatment. On the other hand,security is protection, and it entails the measures for protecting the privacy of patients’ healthinformation and ensuring that professionals hold the patient information in confidence (Hamza etal., 2020).
