Trinity Community Hospital has completed a Health Needs Assessment for the region to better serve the community. This assessment identifies the major risk factors associated with three priority service lines, Orthopedics, Oncology, and Cardiology over the next five years. These risk factors impact the services Trinity Community Hospital delivers to meet the needs of its community. Along with the risk factors, the Health Needs Assessment evaluates the existing facilities, physicians, and other resources currently available in Trinity’s service area.A1. Risk FactorsThe community health needs assessment reviewed information from multiple sources, including physicians, state healthcare guidelines, and demographic information. When evaluating risk factors in Trinity’s primary service region, the enormous volume of new cases for the region’s oncology, orthopedic, and cardiovascular service lines pose the foremost concern. Trinity Community Hospital’s primary service region has been noted to have a significant aging population. Within the next five years, approximately 15% of the local population will be aged sixty-five and older. More patients in the region reaching retirement age are a significant risk factor for Oncology services. It is estimated that, over their lifetime, one out of two men and one out of three women are expected to be diagnosed with cancer. Specifically, new cancer cases are expected to swell from 3,200 cases this year to over four thousand over the next five years, a growth rate of 34%
