Admission Essay My interest in science and computers stretches back to my pre-teen years. I would regularly try to open computers, radios, electric appliances and spoilt phones just to discover how they were built. Most of my peers found me eccentric and enigmatic, and they could not comprehend my so-called “obsession” with science. However, to me this seemed normal, with nothing out of place. I was just a curious, young soul trying to satisfy his curiosity. Perhaps my parents, who were both physics teachers, fueled my interest. There were books all over the house that talked about famous scientists like Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. I would often ask them how different things worked. Not once did they turn me away, say they were too busy or refuse to answer any question I had. I can confidently say that my passion for computers is as old as I am. My passion did not wane as I grew older. If anything, I began to take note of the different branches of sciences and started to identify where I could specialize in. At about age 16, I set my heart on software engineering, wanting to make a change in the software field. I understood that there were many obstacles, but convinced myself that I could. I thought to myself that if I could, then I would have accomplished my purpose. I started conducting research on the best colleges to pursue my desired career, while also looking for who the best software engineering researchers were. After a thorough survey of the best schools in the country, I stumbled upon Princeton University. I had not realized this when I was going through the vast amounts of data on the internet; however, Princeton is the perfect school for me. For starters, it offers some of the most competitive tuition fee rates of any university. One might be tempted to think that the affordable tuition fees mean that the school offers lower quality education. On the contrary, the school is considered one of the best, not only in the state, but also throughout the country. Apart from that, the school also has a notable portfolio in championing educational skills and life skills. Such skills help the individuals who attend the school become good at what they do and succeed at the highest level. It encourages people to make changes and become problem solvers rather than simply becoming savants in their fields. To them, what matters is the change that people make to society and the United States. Anyone who wishes to join should embrace the school’s lifestyle, and that is a big part of why I want to join. The school provides a stepping-stone for all those wishing to succeed. Joining the school would represent the realization of my biggest dream, and if given a chance, I would be grateful. The school offers training in a professional capacity and trains people on how to employ the latest technologies when it comes to computer science. I am also drawn to its focus on one on one attention with each student. It also allows students to train with companies such as Google, which gives them a huge boost of confidence when they step into the real world. I am sure that if properly guided, I will master all the skills required to thrive in a software engineering career. If offered a chance to join, I will be eternally grateful to all who gave me a chance, and would do my best to make my family proud.
