Group psychotherapy or therapy is a form of psychotherapy where one or more therapists simultaneously treat a group of clients with the same problems. Group therapy is widely available in various locations, including hospitals, private therapeutic practices, community centers, and mental health clinics. It usually aims at helping individuals develop socialization and communication skills and allow them to learn how to express their issues with group members while accepting criticism from them. Positive Feedback for the Therapist The therapist used a structured style of therapy wherein they have stated rules in the beginning of the session. Having rules and regulations would help the patients know the expectations of the group therapy and give them a sense of responsibility and discipline. Explaining guidelines and privacy is also helpful and giving patients more confidence in opening up about their situation and to be more interactive in the therapy. One of the vital types of psychotherapy is group therapy. Entry 4 This week at clinical was an eight-hour clinical on Monday. This was a very busy day at the clinic for my preceptor. My preceptor is very insightful on helping me determine which patients to interviewing and giving me time to help decide my treatment plan. Entry 3 This week at clinical was more consistent with completing 20 hours on consecutive days. My preceptor gave me a task to interview a difficult resident at a skilled nursing facility. This individual is a 48-year-old male in the SNF due to car wreck and requiring rehab. This rehab stay turned into long term due to no family capable of taking care of him due to his mental illnesses. I interviewed the patient for a full hour session in his room. The difficult part was listening to him tell his life story.
