Interview Summary For this assessment I interviewed Esa C., she is one of the charge nurses in the Emergency Room (ER). She is responsible for the flow of the emergency room as well as handling concerns and complaints. Her role is to assign patients to doctors and assist the staff with patient care. An 8-year-old Black Male with Psychiatric Complaints For this week's assignment, we have a client, Tyrel, an 8-year-old black male brought in by his mother due to possible psychiatric concerns. In the last two months, he has become irritable, has had trouble sleeping, and struggles with going to school and being around his classmates. He has anxiety about germs and having to wash his hands often.This behavior began shortly after contracting strep throat and has manifested into wanting to wash his hands and keep them clean not to get sick again. He has missed more than eight days of school in the past three weeks. His mother feels responsible for his behavior because she diligently reminds him to wash his hands more frequently before and after he eats, not to handle things that do not belong to him, and wash his hands after playing with other children.

Introduction. According to research, 20 percent of children and adolescents have mental health disorders in the United States of America( Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2019). Research substantiates that of the 20 percent with mental health problems only 25 percent get assessed, diagnosed and treated for their condition. It is therefore important for mental health providers to educate the public so that early assessment, diagnosis and treatment can be done to ensure a brighter future for the child or adolescents affected by mental illness.

Children in foster care have high prevalence of adverse childhood experiences and are at risk for mental health issues. Research suggests that intervening with children in foster care can be challenging for several reasons, including the severity and complexity of their mental health problems, and challenges engaging this often transitory population in mental health services (Hambrick, Oppenheim-Weller, S., N'zi, & Taussig, 2016).

Structured interviewing was conducted on December 29, 2020.In this interview, the nurse that I spoke with was able to provide her opinion of the healthcare organizational culture related to collaboration.She worked in an Oncology Department for a large hospital.The organization was invested in continuing education for staff and had an emphasis on patient satisfaction.

Reduction or elimination of elements identified with health problems and incorporation of new features to encourage collective health involves a shift in physical, mental, bureaucratic, and political contexts.

Gender theory has emerged at the forefront of scholarly texts and studies due to its increased ambiguity in today’s society.Gender identity, or how an individual recognizes the self, has blurred the lines of our chromosomal makeup.In contrast to the popular western belief of gender as binary, male or female, the emergence of fluidity in gender identification has outlined the fact that our gender falls somewhere on a continuum, where our internal gender may not match our external or physical attributes (Kelly, 2018, p. 9).

A community teaching plan proposal was submitted and approved which focused on pneumonia in the community and the elderly population. The targets were people 65 years old and older who are more susceptible to pneumonia than younger people. The teaching took about 45 minutes via skype at FKC Clinic in Redlands CA. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic it was impossible to do it in person. The lecture included activities such as demonstrations and discussions as well as answers. The teaching plan was reviewed ahead by a RN-BSN supervisor that recommended a power point presentation with pictures and graphics to relay the information to the participants. The suggestions from the provider helped improve the teaching plan.

Resulting from Gender Dysphoria I have chosen Gender Dysphoria (GD) formerly known as Gender Identity Disorder because I have taken care of many adolescent patients with GD. The DSM-5 (Association, 2013) discusses GD as the distress that may accompany the marked incongruence between someone’s birth gender and their expressed gender that lasts for at least six months. Gender dysphoria is expressed differently depending on the age group. However, not everyone who is transgender experiences distress. Davy and Toze (2018), in referring to the DSM-5 reported that GD is associated with clinically significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning. ASSESSING AND TREATING CLIENTS WITH ADHD2 Assessing and Treating Clients with ADHD Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most frequent neurobiological disorder in children with an estimated worldwide occurrence of about 3.4% (Coelho, Barbosa, Rizzutti, Bueno, & Miranda, 2017). ADHD is the prevalent disorder for clients of all ages, as it is estimated more than 6 million children (CDC, 2016) and 8 million adults (ADAA, 2016) are diagnosed with the disorder.This is the disorder in which the brain is wired differently, primarily affecting the frontal lobes of the brain, which is responsible for memory control, impulsivity, behavior, and self-regulation (Templeton, 2020).

Assessment Several scales for assessing the presence of clinical anxiety have been validated and are used routinely. These include the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAM-A), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire-IV (GAD-Q-IV). Regardless f whether they are self-administered, or structured interviews administered by the clinician, they all assess the presence of anxiety symptoms and their severity. They are not adequate for early detection or screening of probable GAD cases and cannot be self-administered by the patient without clinician supervision (Garcia-Campayo et al. 2012)

Health Care Reform in the US has been an unwavering battle depicting how the most expensive health care system in the world will look like and how it will be paid for.My rationale for choosing this topic is to demonstrate key factors as to how Information Technology and the APN role can effectively impact this issue.Despite much advancement towards a universal healthcare such as the Affordable Care Act (ACA), we have only found more complications relating to cost and quality in care.With low insurance coverage and an increase in healthcare costs the healthcare system is becoming overwhelmed with patients and understaffed with workers.Although the ACA has extended health coverage to millions of Americans we have not accounted for the healthcare worker population.Along with the welfare gains for low income individuals in poor health and welfare losses for high income individuals in good health, insurance companies are decreasing certain coverage’s and adversely driving the cost of care up (Jung & Tran, 2016).

heory of Diversity and Universality is my choice for a nursing theory that will best guide my practice during psychotherapy treatment. Leininger’s nursing theory aims at providing culture sensitive care to all patient population. It supports care measures which incorporate individuals’ or groups’ background; cultural beliefs, practices, and values. To provide the best care possible while remaining nonjudgmental, Leininger thought nurses need to make the use of specific values and practices of care, by identifying and considering the patients’ beliefs (Broch, Oliveira Crossetti, da, & Lisboa Riquinho, D2017). I believe that patient should always be the center of my practice; therefore, it is not about what care is delivered to the patient rather how is the care perceived.

In this week’s reflection and progression of psychiatric assessment, I have come to realize that the interview process is not just about the client’s interview answers and physical presentation. What I am realizing is that there are two people involved in a trust establishing relationship where the client is revealing his/her deepest darkest moments in life and the practitioner is carefully conducting the interview while delicately navigating through a person’s history of present illness to understand how to best help that person. According to Carlat (2017), even experienced clinicians differ in how they approach the HPI, and in my opinion that is where the art of the interview begins. Therefore, to answer the question how prepared are you to conduct a psychiatric interview in your clinic rotation? My answer is 7/10, but to be completely honest we don’t know what sort of patient we may face

When planning an EBP project one must consider the health care system where they want it to be implemented. For example, what kind of resources will be available and is the health care system ready to implement a new EBP project. Looking within the local level helps to identify needs that will benefit the patients the healthcare system supports. EBP can address problems identified to the local health care system and will use current clinician’s expertise and will take into account patients values and preferences (Bardsley, Eich, Esche, Kropkowski, McLaughlin, Risch & Warren, 2016).

The action involved while planning an evidence-based practice requires the researcher to do a lot of research. Another critical issue would be to conduct a study at the local level to understand the healthcare system. The process of understanding the healthcare system at the local level is essential when resulting in planning the implementation of medical errors. It is vital to note that it will make it easy for healthcare facilities to assess how to advance the different systems. Offering quality healthcare to all the patients will lead to perfection. It will also be essential to help the researchers evaluate the best practices and culture to provide quality

A topic that I am interested in researching is honesty in advertising. I am interested in this topic because advertising is something I see everyday, and something that I think about when purchasing an item with my money. Advertising can be very powerful but also very misleading. I know that most video advertisements present false realities of a product. McDonald’s paints the food that is used in their commercials in order to look tasteful on video. Many times, the “food” presented in commercials is not even real food.

This paper considers the issue of Pharmacare in Canada, which represents a major gap in Canada Health Coverage and should be included under the principals of the Canada Health Act (C.H.A.). It begins with a description of the issue, describes why pharmacare is a medical necessity for many Canadians, discusses the impact of the current application of pharmacare, and details how the absence of universal pharmacare is a void in the universal healthcare coverage promised to all Canadians. Morally and ethically, as well as financially, providing a national healthcare is an imperative that must be addressed, and potential solutions are described.
