The physicochemical properties of nanoparticles and biological barriers influence the behavior and availability of nanomedicines in the human body. The shape of nanoparticles determines the uptake of the drug by the cell. For example, HeLa cells respond best to rods and spheres, while cylinder and cube-shaped particles have the lowest uptake levels. The shape also determines nanomedicines’ toxicity. For example, nanospheres and nanowires are reportedly less toxic than nanoplates. Similarly, research has reported that spheres and cubes are less toxic to zebrafish embryo compared to zinc nano-sticks. Since 1973, World Vision Zimbabwe (WVZ) conducts its operations from bordering countries to provide support for refugees and internationally displaced persons during the Liberation Struggle. Following liberation, WVZ begun to collaborate with various charity institution and re-orientated towards implementing long-term development programs. During the most recent cholera outbreak in 2008- 2009, WVZ worked to provide water and sanitation services, healthcare, education, micro-financing options and food for approx. 3 million Zimbabweans. Currently, WVZ is the largest humanitarian organization in Zimbabwe and implements 29 Area Development Programs with the support from Philanthropists from 8 countries: the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Hong Kong (WVZ, n.d.). This paper will discuss how WVZ addresses essential services related to water, sanitation, and hygiene issues, health promotion, and child health as well as my personal role in providing these services during my work with WVZ.

In the last couple of decades, the interest in professional sports has been on the constant rise among children and youth across the globe. According to reports, just under 80 percent of secondary school athletic directors reported an increase in the number of youth athletes in their physical education classes (1). In the United States alone, the number of young people who participated in sports activities rose more than three times between 1987 when there was approximately 18 million youth engaged in sports to around 60 million in 2008 (2).

Lungs being one of the most vitally essential structures in the body, cancerous or oncogenic growth in this tissue are a matter of grave concern and criticality. According to NCI Dictionary of Cancer terms (n.d), lung cancer is defined as a type of metastatic growth (Cancer) that forms in tissues of the lung, usually in the cells lining air passages. The main types are diagnosed based on histological analysis of the tissue. There are three main types of lung cancers. The Non- small lung cell cancer(comprising about 85% of lung cancers includes squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, and large cell carcinomas as subtypes ), Small lung cell cancer(about 10- 15%) and Lung carcinoid tumor(less than 5%).

Controlled Release Drug Delivery Systems (CR DDSs) have beneficial amid oral applications of drug, for successfully controlling the release as well as absorption through GIT (Gastrointestinal tract) [1,2]. CR DDSs are more promising to maintain the drug level at the desired range, provide a fast release for poorly soluble drugs, low dose requirement, reduce the cost of treatment, increase patient compliances, reduces side effects, and improve tolerability, etc. Therefore, it is considered to be a valuable tool and advanced drug delivery system over the regular oral medications [3]. The fundamental basis for the controlled release of the drug is to improve the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drug moieties by utilizing the novel drug delivery system or changing or modifying the molecular framework at the sub-atomic structure which alters the physiochemical properties (Figure 1) [4].

Physical-assisted death continues to be a topic that brings a lot of controversy and divides opinions among general public. Recently, the media has reported that Canada’s Supreme Court made a unanimous decision to repeal national laws which criminalize doctors who are willing to aid patients who seek to die. This ruling concludes many decades of legal struggles between patients, doctors, and civil right organizations who favored legalization of physician-assisted death and government lawyers who argued that physician-assisted death poses danger to lives of the most vulnerable patients (Webster, 2015)

In the modern drug development, drug delivery through the skin is gaining significant importance. Optimizing the delivery of a drug through the skin is imperative to use the potential of this route entirely. In the early stage of product development, optimization of skin formulations through the use of optimal carrier considered being an essential process in enhancing the pharmacokinetic parameters of a drug. Development and optimization of skin formulations need appropriate skin models which should be able to recognize and assess the characteristic properties of the formulations. Ex vivo animal/human models of the skin play a critical role for most of the current optimization of skin formulations. However, arti?cial skin models are gaining much importance nowadays because of the increasing ethical concern in use of human and animals skin (Flaten et al., 2015).

(1996) entitled “Effects of a school-based intervention to reduce cardiovascular disease risk factors in elementary-school children: the Cardiovascular Health in Children (CHIC) study” was a randomized controlled field trial aimed to answer the important scientific question does a school-based intervention could reduce cardiovascular disease risk factors in third- and fourth-grade school children. This study assessed the effectiveness of a primary care based lifestyle intervention which was designed and implanted with an aim to reduce the estimated risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and for Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) mortality, and to motivate changes in lifestyle behaviors. The authors conducted a 12 –month parallel group randomized control trial in a study sample which consisted of 622 adult participants. Participants were randomly assigned to receive theory-based lifestyle intervention or existing healthcare brochure. Risks were calculated using formulas described in Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) and Systematic Coronary Risk Evaluation (SCORE) studies. The results indicate that the mean calculated T2DM risk was 18,9% while the mean CVD mortality risk was 3,8%. The authors conclude that lifestyle interventions are as equally effective in reducing risk scores for T2DM and CVD and improving lifestyle behaviors as healthcare brochures.

As it has been identified in the case study, Ashleigh does not have sufficient income or money to meet her life demands. This definition is a typical denotation of what poverty refers to, at least according to Fortinash and Worret (2014). As a result of Ashleigh’s poverty, she has to make difficult decisions for different dilemmatic decisions. Apparently, selecting one option and leaving the other creates an even greater quandary. For example, she selects to spend her vacation to find a new apartment. The consequent issue is that she has to commute far from work and has to keep up with the few friends she has made. One of the possible causes of the rise in the number elderly people using alcohol and other drugs is the equal growth in the number of individuals aged over 50 years, with one study observing a double growth of this population between the year 2000 and 2007 (Chhatre et al., 2017).
